Faced with stringent regulations for modifying the external structure of a villa in the exclusive town of Cap Ferrat (near Nice), our primary efforts were focused on transforming its interiors into a spectacular seaside retreat. A nod to the wonders of the sea, the theme is recurrent throughout the villa, with materials and decorative elements that evoke the sense of being surrounded by corals, shells, sand, and pebbles timelessly eroded by waves.
We worked around external structural limitations by developing a complimentary landscape design centered of two distinct spaces and themes. For the villa’s main entry: repetitive layers of geometric, almost formal gardens inspired by the surrounding region’s landscape. And for the rear, seafront area: taking notes and inspiration from the Mediterranean wilderness.
